Ingredients
6 cups lemonade (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup grape juice or cranberry juice (for purple color) or lime juice (for green color)
1–2 cups lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
1/4 cup sugar (optional, to taste)
Ice cubes (you can freeze gummy worms in the ice for added fun!)
Instructions
1. Prepare Your Tools:
- Grease your candy molds lightly or lay out parchment paper if not using molds.
- If making lollipops, arrange lollipop sticks in the molds or on the parchment.
2. Cook the Sugar Mixture:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Stir over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
3. Add Flavor and Color:
- Once the candy reaches 300°F, remove it from heat.
- Add a few drops of your preferred food coloring and a flavored extract of your choice. Stir quickly but gently to avoid introducing air bubbles.
- If you’re using multiple colors and flavors, divide the candy mixture into separate bowls and add different color/flavor combinations to each.
4. Fill the Molds:
- Carefully pour the hot candy into your prepared molds or drop spoonfuls onto parchment paper for freeform shapes.
- If making lollipops, place sticks into the molds or the candy drops while still soft.
5. Add the Magic:
- Sprinkle edible glitter or sanding sugar over the candies while they’re still soft for a whimsical, sparkly effect.
- You can also add other decorative edible elements, like tiny stars or edible confetti, to enhance the magical vibe!
6. Cool and Harden:
- Let the candy cool completely in the molds or on the parchment. This will take about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size and thickness of your candies.
7. Pop Out and Enjoy:
- Once cooled and hardened, carefully remove the candy from the molds or peel it off the parchment paper.
- Store in an airtight container or wrap individually in cellophane to keep the magic intact!
Notes
- Get Creative with Shapes: Use fun and whimsical molds to make star-shaped, heart-shaped, or even unicorn-shaped candies!
- Color Combinations: Try swirling two colors together for a tie-dye effect or make rainbow lollipops by layering different colored candy.
- Flavor Fusions: Mix and match extracts for unique candy flavors—like a lemon-lime swirl or raspberry-mint combo!
